TEACHER CHARGED TO COURT FOR ALLEGEDLY DEFRAUDING STUDENTS OF #151,000 WASCE FEES

           A teacher in Alagbado area of Lagos reportedly duped four students of the their WASCE fees which is of total of #151,000.  Olakunle Oladeji who happens to be a teacher of 33years was said to defraud students of their West African School Certificate Examination(WASCE) fees, totalling #151,000 was officially charged to Ikeja magistrate court on Wednesday,15th August. The accused who lives at No.38 , Ewupe road Sango Alagbado,a outskirt of Lagos is presently facing a five-count bordering on stealing and obtaining money under false pretence.
            The prosecutor l, Inspector Abiola Adewale said Oladeji committed the offence sometime in March 25 2017 and April 25 2017, at Rapid Bright tutorial centre at No.18 Arigbanla street, Alagbado, Lagos. He said the accused who presented himself as a West African Examination Council official collected a sum of #151,000 from four students on the pretence of assisting them to register for WASCE
      "Oladeji fraudulently collected various sums from four students on the pretext that he would register them for the examination and converted the money to personal use" the prosecutor told the court.
        Adewale said that the accused collected the money from Mubarak Lawal, Sheun Adegboye, Blessing Oderinde and Damilola Yusuf and failed to refund the money after deliberately deceiting then. The offences contovened sections 287 and 314 of the criminal law of Lagos state, 2015.
         The News Agency of Nigeria reports that section 314 prescribes 15years jail term for obtaining money under false pretext. The accused however pleaded not guilty of what he was charged for and the magistrate granted him the bail of the sum of #100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned by Salawu till 9th October
