An adage says"An idle hand is the devil's workshop". In the process of surfing through the net some days back, I came across a post which actually baffled me and kept me thinking, the person's post goes thus: "Listen, don't be a fool, presently in Nigeria, there is no riches without fraud". Most people have this misconception and have come to conclusion that one can never make it or be successful in this present Nigeria without engaging in one fraudulent act or the other .
Truly, no one is disputing the fact that unemployment rate in this our amiable country is aggravating everyday ,but we should also accept the truth that not everybody will get employed by the government or get an appointment with the big companies in the country. Viewing it from the perspective of the number of graduates/students produced by different universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and all other higher institutions of learning. Thousands of teachers graduate from colleges of education, universities also do not stop producing uncountable number of doctors, lawyers, accountants and all sorts of other lucrative job practitioner every year. It is virtually not possible for all these people to get employed by the government because the number of people in search of these jobs is thousand times more than the available spaces for employment. Nonetheless, the ones that do not have the opportunity to get employed by the government or other private parastatals can also be gainfully employed by being self reliant or practice what is called "sole proprietorship".
However, it might sound absurd to the hearing of a well educated youth to learn apprentice or engage in entrepreneurship after series of studies in school but the bitter truth is that, it is what we really need to build a better tomorrow for ourselves, the country and the globe at large, we should be able to create our own unique idea of making things work out for us without being dependent on the government, they also have limits to what they can do, they are not gods, or is it possible for them to provide jobs for over 500,000 youths that graduate every consecutive year, absolutely NO! , we youths also have to pull something out and stop being dependent because the future lies in our hands.
It usually grieves me seeing graduates complain about being unemployed which makes them depend solely on others for money, some even result into begging and some go as far as engaging in criminal and fraudulent acts which later land them into trouble they might not get over throughout their lifetime. Everyone desires to be rich but instead of engaging in illegal act or being idle, starting a little business will help, all the wealthy men and women around the world all started from somewhere, also taking time to discover yourself, what you are good at and like doing, your potentials and gift. Maximization of all these things can bring fort something great and profitable rather than joining the multitude to say their is no job in the country.
BEING EDUCATED DOESN'T STOP YOU FROM BECOMING YOUR OWN BOSS AND INDEPENDENT
